The world we live in is filled with conflict, stress, and chaos. We see people who are filled with stress and worry to provide for themselves, to make things happen for their families, to progress in their careers. Inherently, these aren’t bad things to strive for, but I’ve found that these things often ruin the peace that Christ came to bring us. The Bible is filled with scriptures on peace and in this busy life, we often forget about those verses. To help out I’ve collected 7 Bible verses about peace to bring that back to the forefront of our minds. Check these amazing scriptures for peace and use them inside of your church presentation software to share them with your congregation this coming Sunday!

1. Philippians 4:7 (ASV)

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

This Verse perfectly says it. The peace of God goes beyond what you and I can even comprehend all because of Christ himself. He cares deeply about our inner peace. We weren’t designed to walk in this life filled with stress and worry and when we find peace in Christ, we find what being loved by Him is truly all about. It’s about a place of rest, a safe haven to lay our head when the world around us or the thoughts inside of us can be overwhelming.

2. John 16:33 (ASV)

These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

When Jesus spoke these words, they were words of assurance to His disciples. These words hold as much truth now as they did then. Jesus is speaking here that no matter what comes against us, He is there with us and has actually already won our battles for us. Currently, we in the Western world do not face the kind of tribulation that the disciples were about to experience, but nonetheless, we are promised that we go through hard things in life. It’s not about trying to avoid these times, but about leaning on the One who has already overcome them.

3. Jeremiah 29:11 (ASV)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.

I’ve been a Christian for a lot of my life. I’ve grown up going to church and have heard this passage of scripture time and time again. It may be that this is a different translation than I am used to, but for some reason, this is the first time I’ve seen the phrase “thoughts of peace” written out here. Anxiety is constantly sitting on our doorstep. There are new things to worry about every day regarding our future. I love that this passage simply tells us how God thinks of us both as fellow believers and as individuals. He thinks towards us with thoughts of peace and not ill intent. This is a powerful message that many people absolutely need to hear. This is a prime example of an amazing verse you could use and present to your church through your worship software

4. Psalms 37:10-11 (ASV)

For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

The World itself has progressively become more and more vulgar and cold in nature due to a number of reasons that we do not have time to get into. This promise tells us that those of us who value humility and righteousness in the midst of evil and chaos will be the inheritors of an abundance of peace. These few sentences bring me so much relief in knowing that the more I choose to be like Christ, and the more I choose to pursue righteousness, the more I will find peace within Him.

5. Proverbs 3:17 (ASV)

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.

Who is the “her” that this passage refers to? Until my later years as a Christian, I never truly knew. Now that I’m older, I’ve come to understand that this passage is personifying Godly Wisdom. I love that these passages of Proverbs portray the image of Wisdom as a pleasant and graceful woman, whose paths are of peace. I believe the Lord is purposefully highlighting this verse and showing us that wisdom and peace often go hand and hand.

6. Isaiah 9:6 (ASV)

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This verse is so, so, so beautiful. Its prophetic nature speaks of the One who at the time had not yet come to walk on this earth. Many people didn’t understand then what this scripture meant, but as Christians, we know and believe that this speaks to the coming of Jesus Christ. The phrase “Prince of Peace” has often been one of my favorite things to call Him in my walk as a Chrisitan, and it always helps remind me, even in the most stressful times, who really is on the throne.

7. 1 Peter 5:6-7  (ASV)

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you.

Acts of worship can look like many things. It could look like singing, dancing, setting time aside for prayer, clapping, playing instruments, etc., but I believe that worship can go even deeper. Worship by definition is to show reverence and adoration to God. What better way to show that worship than to give Him all that we are, without restraint? That includes our fears, worries, anxiety, depression, and illnesses. One of the greatest ways to step into peace is to give Jesus the deepest and darkest parts of ourselves and watch what He makes out of them.

Finding Peace In Christ

All in all, Bible verses about peace are meant to bring us into a state of reflection. As I was writing about and thinking about the verses in this blog, I couldn’t help but realize how much Jesus truly does value every part of us. He longs to see healing and restoration not only to our physical and spiritual parts but also to our emotional and mental parts. We just have to take a moment and find His peace in the midst of our tribulation.

Do you have a moment you can remember where the world around you felt overwhelming and shaky? Tell us about that time and how stepping into the peace of Christ shifted your perspective and situation around!

“Before using MediaShout 7, we were using Powerpoint and very frustrated. What was different about MediaShout is that there is so much you can do it with it to fit all churches, big or small. Once we switched to MediaShout, there was a weight lifted off my shoulders and a very big smile with a shout of “Hallelujah”. I feel like there are no limits to sharing God’s Word.” -J. Whitely
