There
is no question that film is 'big.' Whether
it is used as a teaching illustration,
meditative thought-provoker or worship
background, the power of visuals that
reflect life around us can open our eyes
to deep Truths at the core of our faith
when words fall short.
Our first Shoutable feature
of the month is the first volume in an
amazing series of teaching illustrations
known as NOOMA
featuring the teaching of Rob Bell. NOOMA
has taken the need for culturally-relevant
Christian perspectives and crafted short
films touching on important issues to
bring the message of Truth to the world
in a new format.
*Please note that due to the DVD format,
NOOMA volumes are only
playable in MediaShout
Version 3 or through a DVD player.
Rain,
volume 1 from NOOMA,
is especially relevant to our world
in light of the recent devastation that
people are facing from Hurricane Katrina.
The
following is a description from Rain_001:
Things don't always work out the
way we want them to, or the way we think
they will. Sometimes we don't even see
it coming. We get hit with some form
of pain out of nowhere leaving us feeling
desperate and helpless. That's the way
life is. Still, it makes us wonder how
God can let these things happen to us.
How God can just stand by and watch
us suffer? Where is God when it really
hurts? Maybe God is actually closer
to us than we think. Maybe it's when
we're in these situations, where everything
seems to be falling apart, that God
gets an opportunity to remind us of
how much he really loves us.

Our
second feature of the month also introduces
a new addition to our family of Shoutable
partners. Flashlight Films
is a young production house, launched
from the media department at Germantown
Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. With the
blessing of the church, these professional
filmmakers launched Flashlight
to provide film and video resources for
churches that will have credibility alongside
a Hollywood or ad agency creation, as
well as imagery inspired by God, the ultimate
source of creativity.
Some
of you are thinking that we are crazy
for mentioning Christmas in the heat of
September, but we realize that the choirs
are beginning to practice their cantatas
and church staff meetings are already
discussing Christmas events. So for those
of you who are already singing about the
bleak midwinter in the sultry September
sun, Merry Christmas!
Christmas
Elements and Christmas
Footage are two volumes
that will enhance many aspects of your
holiday season this year. Elements features
sermon starters and powerful visual accounts
of the Christmas story originally shot
on 35mm film, accompanying teaching insights
from author, speaker and pastor Erwin
McManus, and corresponding images at presentation
and print resolution.
The Stock Footage
volume includes all of the short clips
used to create the Elements collection,
and includes editable versions to provide
a unique, creative use of the footage
for your own ministry.
